Our Environmental Waste Services department made a minor change to its bulk collection policies this week.
The new collection procedure/policy states:
“Brush and Bulky Goods collection history for construction and demolition(C&D) debris generated at a residence by a previous homeowner shall not apply to the new homeowner. The new homeowner shall be provided with no more than four separate collections of C&D debris per calendar year. After the fourth occurrence, a premium services collection fee will be charged.
The old policy allowed only four free bulk collections per calendar year per address. This common sense policy change was designed to allow for new home owners to come in and clean out a property or renovate the home without being penalized for the actions of the previous owner. Kudos to the EWS staff for listening to residents, writing, and implementing new policy in only a matter of a few weeks. This type of communication, cooperation, and responsiveness is what makes a city great.
